Focus on warmth and connection: in this spacious home, each family member has their own space, yet contact is maintained via the intermediate floors. Here the staircase literally zigzags between each floor, each time granting a glimpse of a new space. A special detail: the balustrade, an elegant collection of thin bars, adds to the see-through effect.

The warmth of this home emanates from the materials used such as lime, coloured natural stone and bronze details.

A house located at a stone’s throw from both the Zwin Nature Park and the sea needs to be linked to its surroundings. So we mixed the wall paint with fine sand from the Zoute district, thus creating a playful texture on the walls. A lot of light streams in through the large, folding windows at the front and back, allowing one to enjoy the green surroundings to the maximum extent.

A special request: there is a pasture opposite the house where the resident’s horses graze. To maintain contact with this area, the kitchen was raised slightly and the hedge was meticulously trimmed. This hides the street from view, but it still feels like you are very close to the animals.
