This hilltop home with a 360° view is in subtle dialogue with its environment.
It offers an impressive view over the valley, while the surrounding water and numerous trees conjure a sense of shelter and security.
An enlargement of the natural pond and partial excavation of the hill has encircled the property with water and nestled it into the slopes of the extraordinary landscape. This sets an intimate scene. The swimming pool in the basement, located at the same level as the pond, acts as a natural extension of the surrounding water.
To make the home blend in with its natural surroundings to the maximum extent, we sought a brick colour to match the grey-brown tones of the surrounding conifers. Throughout the day, the acid-stained concrete awnings cast beautiful shadows, while the natural material gives the home a rougher edge.
In the open living space on the ground floor, the panoramic view and accompanying incidence of light take centre stage, but there is always a sense of shelter and security. The warmth lies in the details, such as a living space that can be closed off and seating built into the large windows.

Een 360°-woning op de top van een heuvel voert een ingetogen dialoog met z’n omgeving. Hier krijg je een impressionant zicht over de vallei, tegelijk zorgt het omringende water en de talrijke bomen voor geborgenheid.
Door de natuurlijke vijver te vergroten en de heuvel deels uit te graven, wordt de woning omringd door water en door de glooiingen van het bijzondere landschap. Dit creëert een intiem schouwspel. Het zwembad in de kelderverdieping bevindt zich op hetzelfde niveau van de vijver, waardoor het een natuurlijk verlengstuk krijgt.
Om de woning maximaal te integreren in de natuur, zochten we naar een kleur baksteen die mooi aansluit bij de bruin-grijze tint van de omliggende naaldbomen. De luifels in verzuurd beton zorgen doorheen de dag voor een boeiend schaduwspel, tegelijk geeft het natuurlijke materiaal de woning een ruwer kantje.
In het open woongedeelte op de gelijkvloerse verdieping krijgen het vergezicht en de bijhorende lichtinval het hoofdpodium, maar altijd omkaderd door geborgenheid. Die warmte zit in details, zoals een afsluitbare woonkamer en de grote ramen met geïntegreerde zitplekken.
Architecturaal een bescheiden project met een bijzonder samenspel van ruimtelijkheid en intimiteit.
